Our legal bases for processing your information are as follows:

• To honor our contractual commitments to you (Art. 6 para 1 lit. b) GDPR). For example, we handle Personal Data on this basis to allow you to evaluate or purchase our products and services.
• Based on your consent (including, where legally permitted, your implied consent), Art. 6 para 1 lit. a) GDPR whenever consent is explicitly required by applicable law. You may withdraw your consent to such processing as discussed in Section 14 “Rights of data subjects” below. However, if you withdraw your legally required consent, then we may be unable to assist you.
• To further our legitimate interests (Art. 6 para 1 lit. f) DSGVO) in commercial activities in ways that are not overridden by your interests or fundamental rights and freedoms.
• To comply with our legal obligations (Art. 6 para 1 lit. c) GDPR) we must use and disclose personal data as required by applicable law.

 

We will not use your Personal Information in a manner inconsistent with the purpose of its original collection unless you have provided your consent.

 

 

4. Provision of the Website and log files

When you use the Website for information purposes only (i.e. if you do not register or otherwise provide us with information), we only collect the personal data that your browser automatically transmits to our server. When you view our Website, we collect the following data which is technically necessary for us to display our website to you and ensure stability and security:

• Time difference from Greenwich Mean Time (GMT)
• Content of the request (specific page)

The IP addresses of the users are deleted or anonymised after the end of use. When the IP addresses are anonymised, they are changed such that the individual details about personal or factual circumstances can no longer be attributed to a specific or identifiable natural person or can only be attributed to a specific or identifiable natural person with a disproportionate amount of time, cost and human resources.

 

For our use of Google Anayltics on the Website, the IP address of users is shortened beforehand by Google within member states of the European Union or in other contracting states to the Agreement on the European Economic Area. Only in exceptional cases is the full IP address transmitted to a Google server in the USA and shortened there, so that data processing can take place outside the European Union. In this case, the transmission of the personal data collected by means of Google Analytics takes place in the USA. For more information on our use of Google Analytics cookies see Section 11 “Automated decision-making, profiling” below.

 

 

5. Cookies

In addition to the log file data mentioned above, cookies are stored on your computer when you use our Website. Cookies are small text files that are assigned to the browser you are using and stored on your device. They allow us to obtain specific information that we use cookies to make the website more user-friendly and effective.

We use both “session cookies” and “persistent cookies” on the Website. We use these cookies to personalise content, provide social media features and analyse traffic to the Website. You can deactivate cookies we place through Google Analytics in connection with AdWords advertisements via the Ads Preferences Manager on the Google website.

You can deactivate the SalesViewer® data recording and storage at any time through the SalesViewer® website. In this case, an opt-out cookie for this website is saved on your device. If you delete the cookies in the browser, SalesViewer® will resume data recording and storage unless you repeat the process on the SalesViewer® website.

We use third party providers to store your cookie consents. For all portions of the Website outside of our product configurator, we share the data about your cookie preferences with our provider so that they can continue to help us manage your cookie selections. We do not share data about your product configurator cookie selections with our provider.

6. Contact Form

If you wish to contact one of our operating business units, please use the contact form available on their Website which you can use to contact them electronically. If you use this option, the data you enter on the form is transmitted to that business and their designated processors and stored. The corresponding data, in particular personal data, address data, contact data and messages (free text field) are directly visible to that business on your form but are not shared with other operating businesses within the Matthews Industrial Technologies group without your consent.

 

If you use one of our businesses’ contact form to contact them, they also store the following data:

• The IP address of the user
• Date and time of submitting the form
• The webpage from which you submitted your form and
• The webpage from which you navigated to the form.

7. Job vacancies and applications

From time to time, we may advertise job vacancies on our Website. You may apply for those job positions through our Website. You are also welcome to apply for open job positions with us by post.

We collect, process and use your personal data to process, review, and evaluate your job applications. Your job application data will be sent directly to our Human Resources team. Appropriate technical and organizational measures ensure that your personal data is treated confidentially in accordance with the statutory provisions.

If you have applied for a specific position and it has already been filled, or if we consider you to be potentially suitable for another position, we would be happy to forward your application within our company.

 

 

8. Disclosure to third parties

We rely on third parties for some of the functionality of our Website. The personal data that we process as part of those features is governed by a data processing contract terms we enter into with our technology partners. We also disclose personal information to certain third parties to enable them to fulfill the purposes described above in Section 3 “Purposes of processing”. 10. Automated decision-making, profiling

As a rule, we do not use fully automated decision-making processes to establish and implement business relationships. However, to provide you with targeted information and advice on our products, we or service providers may use web analytics tools, in particular tracking technology. These tools enable needs-based communication and advertising.

• Google

This Website uses Google Analytics. Google Analytics is a web analysis service offered by Google Inc. (hereinafter “Google”). Google Analytics uses “cookies” to help us analyze how users use the Website. These cookies are discussed in Section 5 “Cookies” above.

 

We also use the Google Tag Manager as part of Google Analytics. The “tags” are small pieces of code on our Website that we use to measure traffic and visitor behaviour on the Website, track the impact of online advertising and social media, target our audiences more effectively, and optimise the Website. The Tag Manager tool itself does not use cookies. Instead, it triggers other tags, which in turn may collect data. Google Tag Manager does not access this data. If Google Tag Manager is disabled at the domain or cookie level, it will still remain enabled for all tracking tags we implemented with Google Tag Manager.

 

We may also use the online advertising program Google Ads from Google on portions of the Website to provide us with statistical analyses based on the information collected by our cookies. We use this data to show you advertising that might be of interest to you, to make our website more interesting for you, and to measure the effectiveness of our advertising measures. This tool sets a cookie on your end device if you have accessed our website via a Google ad on an external website. When we use this tool, we use conversion tracking as part of Google Ads, but we do not receive any further data. In particular, we cannot identify users from this information. 2. SalesViewer®

This Website also uses SalesViewer® technology from SalesViewer® GmbH to collect and save data on marketing, market research and optimisation purposes.

This tool captures analytic data about Website usage. This data is immediately pseudonymised and is not used to identify website visitors personally. The data is encrypted in a non-retrievable, one-way function and stored by Salesviewer. The data is deleted as soon as it is no longer required for its purpose and there are no legal obligations to retain them.

 

 

11. Social Media

 

1. General Information

Matthews Industrial Technologies is interested in presenting itself on as many channels as possible, being approachable for customers, service providers, other business partners, applicants and interested parties, and promoting topics and products via social networks.

 

We process personal data when you visit Matthews Industrial Technologies on social media channels. With our various social media channels, we want to offer you a wide range of multimedia services and exchange ideas with you on topics that are important to you. In addition to the respective provider of a social network, we also collect and process personal user data on our social media channels. For the respective data processing purposes and data categories, we refer to the individual social media channels, which are explained in more detail below.

The data processing generally serves the following purposes:

• Communication with the Matthews Industrial Technologies social media channel visitors;
• Dealing with inquiries from our Matthews Industrial Technologies social media channel visitors; Collecting statistical information about the reach of Matthews Industrial Technologies social media channels;

(1) We integrate postings and recommendation functions from platforms such as Facebook, YouTube, Instagram on our site. These services are inactive by default, but they can be activated by the user. The services are mainly based in the USA but are subject to the usual data protection rules in EU and EEA countries. For example, if you actively use a recommendation button on our site or read an article with an embedded post, YouTube video or Spotify playlist, the embedding technique can be used to transmit general background data such as your IP address back to the social networks and platforms. We have no influence on how the platforms use the data, possibly also to create usage profiles. Please inform yourself directly on Facebook, YouTube and others and adjust your privacy settings there.

 

(2) In social networks and on other external platforms, the respective companies’ own data protection regulations apply, even if we disseminate information and maintain a presence there with our brands. The US company provides us with its editorial system and general usage data, such as the number of views, the duration of use, the demographics of the readers and the usernames of all contacts – here you can read the network’s data protection rules.

 

(3) You can also create a user account with us by connecting to your Facebook account (“Sign in with Facebook” function). In this case, we will of course not know your Facebook access data – the data protection regulations of the social network apply; However, we have to request your public data and your e-mail address in order to be able to register you with us. This will give you a user account with us, and you can later unlink yourself from Facebook at any time in our login area to log in to us independently of Facebook.

The Matthews Industrial Technologies  LinkedIn pages are operated on LinkedIn, a social network of LinkedIn Ireland Unlimited Company, Wilton Place, Dublin 2, Ireland (“LinkedIn”). When you visit the Matthews Industrial Technologies  LinkedIn pages, LinkedIn processes your personal data in accordance with their privacy policy, which can  be found here.

 

We process the following personal data:

• Your LinkedIn username, as well as comments on our Matthews Industrial Technologies LinkedIn pages and messages you send us through our Matthews Industrial Technologies  LinkedIn pages.
• Other information necessary to respond to inquiries from our visitors or to uniquely identify our visitors in our systems.

 

4. LinkedIn Campaign Manager

To draw attention to our products, we use the LinkedIn Campaign Manager. By using LinkedIn Campaign Manager, we define audiences based on the following criteria:

• Interests (e.g., member groups, interests)
• Work experience (e.g., job titles, functions, seniority, skills)

Based on its algorithm, LinkedIn displays our content on its platform to users who fit the defined target group. The legal basis for this type of processing is Art. 6 para. 1 lit. f) GDPR.

 

5. Matthews Engineering on XING

(1) The Matthews Engineering XING pages are operated on Xin, a social network of XING SE, Dammtorstraße 30, 20354 Hamburg, Germany (“XING”). When you visit the Matthews Engineering XING pages, XING processes your personal data in accordance with their privacy policy, which you  can view here.

(2) We use the statistical information (the amount of interactions, statistics on age composition and the working relationships of our visitors) about the use of the Matthews Engineering XING pages, which XING makes available in anonymised form via its statistical service. It is not possible for the Matthews Engineering Group to draw conclusions about individual users and access to individual user profiles.

 

(3) We process the following personal data:

• Your XING username as well as comments on our Matthews Engineering XING pages and messages that you send us via our Matthews Engineering XING pages.
• Your activity on our Matthews Engineering XING pages via the XING statistics service, e.g. the amount of interactions, statistics on age composition and the working relationships of our visitors.

We do not sell and have not sold your personal information or transferred personal information to third parties to use for their own benefit in the preceding 12 months. We  also do not share your personal information for targeted or cross-context behavioral advertising. For purposes of this Privacy Policy, the words “sell” and “share” have the respective meanings given to them under applicable law including any applicable exemptions thereto. “Share” and “sharing” as used in this section, does not include transfers of personal information described in this Privacy Policy as part of a corporate business transaction, such as a merger, acquisition, or joint venture, or in the event of insolvency, bankruptcy, or receivership.
